LOS GATOS, Calif., January 22, 2026 – A review article in Technology in Cancer Research and Treatment discusses the uses, advantages and limitations of molecular imaging methods employed in the detection and diagnosis of skin cancers. In addition to describing these modalities, including the depth resolutions achieved by each, the article highlights a growing understanding of the stromal tissue environment’s role in early cancer development that drives the processes involved. The Orlucent® Skin Fluorescent Imaging System was designed to identify a biomarker expressed in the stromal tissue environment during tumor growth and offers a noninvasive and accurate solution for early detection, while minimizing the number of unnecessary biopsies required for evaluation of pigmented lesions. The article with full details of the methods reviewed is available.
